My name is Heather Scott. I am 30 years old and have a cute, loving husband and some of the world’s most gorgeous children ever. (It’s true.) My husband works out in the world and I work full time as a mother, wife, and homemaker. (Trust me, that is really hard work! Much harder than the workforce jobs I‘d held in various places as a single adult.) I love every minute of what I do day in and day out. We own a dog, two cats, and a tank full of fish, shrimp, and snails.
I love to sing, play my flute, and a few years back started learning to play the chanter in hopes that someday I can pick up the bagpipes. (Yes, bagpipes… Alba gu bràth!) Someday when I’ve got a little bit of extra $$$ laying around, hopefully I will be able to get an Irish flute and learn to play it, too. (Éirinn go brách!)
I’ve been told once in a great while that I’m funny, although I don’t usually see it except by accident. There’s a few people who would laugh at me for claiming that I am quiet, but it is true… in public I am happily invisible to the masses. I’ve been a wallflower for as long as I can remember, and I honestly enjoy it. It gives me the opportunity to sit in a far corner and observe everything that’s going on around me. Try it some time and you’ll be amazed and entertained by all the tiny details that happen in plain sight that many people overlook.
I come from a family of foodies. My family has shared many special memories around the dining table, and I’ve learned that good company, good food, and good conversation can create great bonds between people. I also happen to rock at cooking and baking. Although I am stingy with heirloom recipes, I am kind enough to share some personal recipes once in a while. (That is usually if I’m feeling generous or if I really like you and trust you to keep it in the family also.) There will be some recipe sharing and baking tips on here-- I can’t help myself.
Out of everything that I do, my favorite hobby is writing. More often than not, I’ve got a notebook and a pen with me and I am always writing notes and thoughts for one or two books/stories that I’ve been working off and on for the past 4-5 years. (“Hello, my name is Heather. I am an aspiring author.”) When I’ve had a very tiring day or have too many emotions to keep inside, I find that writing is a perfect fix for me. Usually I am working on my book. I hope that some day I will have it published and that my work of heart will be loved by you as much as my husband and I have grown to love it.
