About Heather

Heather Scott is a third or fourth generation native born and raised in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.  She has always had a secret adoration and obsession for the written word.  At school she would create small children's books for herself and her younger sister.  (Titles of these nearly forgotten childhood stories included "Cricket Creek" and "Hum Bug.")

In school she was often caught day dreaming instead of following along with her teachers' lectures.  From a young age she received encouragement from her parents and her teachers to take her flair for writing and run with it.  However, as a child, she thought that the "flair for writing" her teacher had mentioned meant nice penmanship.  Consequently, she has always enjoyed maintaining elegant penmanship as well.

The writing bug went dormant for many years as Heather spent the majority of her youth singing for gigs and competitions with the high school elite choir.  She attended college at Brigham Young University- Idaho, then in 2003-04 she served a mission for the LDS church.  This is where the desire to write came back to her and she started making occasional notes to put into her first book when the time would be right.

Marriage and family has slowed her down a bit and sometimes redefined her writing goals, but finding balance while writing becomes more attainable each day as she digs deeper and deeper into her stories.  Currently she has multiple works in differing stages of the writing process, but plans to get her first book completed and on to the next step by the end of 2013.

Although Heather has lived in and visited many other places, she still has a connection to the desert she grew up in, with a fondness for the warm sunshine, rugged desert beauty, and the mystery which it holds. She lives in a small town just outside of Las Vegas with her husband, children, 2 cats, an Australian dingo, and a pet puffer fish.  She has an irrational love (obsession) for Halloween and edgy or playfully spooky things, and she is a domestic goddess and sassy lassy.
